I find that I tend to get extra creative this time of year. I’m unsure if it is due to the excitement of putting up Christmas decorations or simply because I spend more evenings indoors avoiding the cold weather. Either way, my eagerness about creating things leads me to some great ideas like this DIY sock snowman. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius! The sock snowman is adorable, customizable and can be placed in most places throughout your home. You don’t need to know how to sew for this DIY, as long as you can handle a scissor and some glue, you’ll be just fine. If you have kids, this will be a fun, holiday-themed project you can do together. Let’s get started!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
– White terry sock
– Scissors
– Thread
– Wide cup or mug
– Pins
-Super glue
– Buttons
– Scrap fabric (for your snowman’s outfit)
– 1kg of rice
Instructions:
Step 1:
Cut off the foot part of the sock just few inches before the heel and turn sock inside out.
Step 2:
Using the string, tightly tie the cut end of the sock
Step 3:
Turn the sock back out, making sure the string is tucked in
Step 4:
Fill the sock with rice. If you need support while filling,
place it in the wide rimmed cup or mug.
Step 5:
Tie the sock at the top and shape the snowman’s body.
Step 6:
Create a head by tying the string around the “neck.” Cut off any excess thread.
Step 7:
Get creative and make him some clothes. Use the foot part of the sock to make a hat,
scrap cloth for the scarf, buttons on his belly and the pins to make a face
Step 8:
All done! Your sock snowman is ready for the world
