Finding all-natural DIY solutions for skincare is a priority for those of us who want to have great looking skin without paying high-end beauty prices and without using products with arm-length chemical ingredients lists. Lemon has many great properties for addressing skin concerns. This amazing fruit acts as an antibacterial, astringent, skin lightener, Vitamin C-infuser, strong antioxidant and exfoliant. Below, we’ve put together a list of some of the top beauty uses for lemon.
To get rid of unsightly blackheads, cut a lemon in half. Place a few drops of honey on the lemon and rub the lemon on your face paying close attention to blackhead-prone areas like your nose, chin, etc. Leave the lemon and honey mixture on your skin for about 5 minutes and then wash off with cold water.
Use as a Toner
For those of you with dry or normal skin types, mix 2 tbsps lemon juice with 2 tbsp distilled water, apply with cotton balls and rinse with cold water. If you have combination or oily skin you will want to combine 2 tbsps lemon juice, 2 tbsps vodka, 1 tbsp distilled water and 1 tsp witch hazel. Apply toner with cotton balls and rinse with cold water.
Fade Age Spots
Lemon acts as a mild bleach that helps reduce redness and inflammation but also diminishes the appearance of age spots. To vanish hyperpigmentation, apply half a lemon straight to your face and rub it on the areas you want to lighten before retiring for the evening. Leave the lemon on overnight. Do this for a week to see results.
Brighter, Softer Skin
Not only will applying lemon brighten your skin with its lightening properties, it will also make your skin softer.

To shed those dead skin cells, dip a half lemon in sugar and rub it over your face for 3 minutes. Do this once or twice a week.
Lemon fights the bacteria that causes acne with its anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties. It shrinks the clogged pores, pushing out the excess dirt and oil. To treat acne, take the juice of 1 lemon and dissolve 6 non-coated aspirin pills in it. Aspirin contains salicylic acid which helps to kill the bacteria causing breakouts. Mix the dissolved aspirin and lemon juice into a paste and apply it directly to your problem areas. Let the paste dry for 3 minutes and then rinse it off with a cotton ball soaked in a solution of 1/2 cup water and 1 tsp of baking soda. Then rinse with cool tap water.
Anti-Aging Face Mask
Lemon is a strong anti-oxidant and is full of Vitamin C which makes it a great anti-aging beauty product. To make a powerful mask, combine 2 tbsp Greek yogurt (full fat), 1 tsp honey and 2 tbsp lemon juice. Apply a hot washcloth to your face for 2 minutes to open your pores. Then, apply mixture evenly to face. Let the mixture dry for 10 minutes and wash off with a warm wash cloth.
You will love the results you get with wonderful lemon.
You work too hard for your money to throw it all away on full price when you don't have to!
