DIY Vanilla Creamsicle Lip Balm
Lip balm is one of those essential items in the winter months, but have you ever worried about the preservatives, dyes, and harmful chemicals put in store-bought brands? You can make your own natural lip balm from ingredients like beeswax and coconut oil. It works great, it’s a fun activity to try in your free time, and it will save you a lot of money!
If you don’t want to make vanilla creamsicle flavor, you can easily change that by adding a different essential oil.
What You’ll Need:
1 Tbsp Beeswax
1 Tbsp Cocoa Butter
1/2 Tbsp Shea Butter
1 Tbsp Coconut Oil (I used Monoi brand infused with vanilla)
1/2 Tbsp Kukui Nut Oil
1 Pump Vitamin E Oil
Thin Slice of Lipstick (in color of your choice, bright shades work best)
4 Drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil (I used 6 but don’t overdo it if you’re not used to essential oils)
Here’s How it’s Done:
DIY Shaving Cream
You know that shaving cream you buy every month? You can save yourself 100s of dollars every year by making your own, and it’s not hard at all. Plus, the natural ingredients will leave your skin feeling soft, supple, and healthy. No more razor burn!
What You’ll Need:
2/3 Cup Coconut Oil
2/3 Cup Shea Butter Lotion or Raw Shea Butter
1/4 Cup Olive Oil
1/4 Cup Castile Soap
1/2 tsp Vitamin E Oil (optional – for extra moisturizing)
1/2 tsp Essential Oil (optional – for scent)
What To Do:
Add coconut oil and Shea butter to a small pot and melt on medium heat. Stir to combine. Add in the olive oil, castile soap, vitamin E oil (optional), and essential oil (optional). Continue to cook on medium heat and stir until well-combined and smooth. Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate for 30-60 minutes (or until the mixture is solid). Then, whip for 3-4 minutes until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. Transfer to a jar for storage and store in a cool place to help the shaving cream maintain its thickness. (If you store it in your shower, it can still work, but the heat will cause it to melt a bit and thin out).
