Alright ladies, it’s true – we’re heading back to Stars Hollow to meet up with Rory and Lorelai. Netflix is reviving the Gilmore Girls in a limited four-part series, Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, that follows our favorite mother and daughter through the seasons of a year. As a devoted fan of the show, I’m counting down the days until it airs on November 25. Yes! And if that date rings a bell it’s because that’s also Black Friday which means that we have the day to binge the series while we recuperate from our Thanksgiving Feast! Perhaps some wine and leftovers for our viewing?
I’ve been rewatching the show and I must say that I’ve loved every minute of it just as much as I did the first time round. The quirky characters are delightful, relatable and undeniably charming. The sharp, fast-paced dialogue with obscure pop culture, history and politics references and witty little quips keep you entertained and amused episode after episode. But ultimately it’s the beauty of the mother-daughter relationship between Lorelai and Rory that gives you the warm fuzzies and keeps you hankering for more. As the only daughter of a divorced mother, the show has special meaning for me. Lorelai raised a beautiful, capable and exceptionally kind daughter, proving to us all that alternative families can and do raise terrific human beings. Of course she did have the help of the entire village of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, to help her and we can’t wait to get back there to see how things have shaped up for Luke, Lorelai, Rory, Emily, Kirk and all, eight years later.
You work too hard for your money to throw it all away on full price when you don't have to!
